Dental x-rays or intraoral images show individual teeth in actual size.
Each image captures one tooth or two adjacent teeth.
In dentistry, RVG (radiovisiography) is used for:
- Detecting cavities and various pathological conditions such as granulomas, cysts, bone loss, tooth or alveolar bone fractures, and other abnormalities. In addition to RVG images of individual teeth, dentistry also uses panoramic imaging - orthopantomogram - which shows a 2D image of both jaws and teeth, as well as CT scans of the jaws that provide a 3D view.
